Wakefield Trinity vs Catalans Dragons: Team news, match preview and score prediction

Wakefield Trinity injected new life into their season with a huge win over rivals Castleford Tigers, but can they back that up against the Catalans Dragons.

The French outfit appeared to be back on track after defeats to Warrington and Salford when they edged Huddersfield to take third spot from the Giants. However, despite leading 30-6 with an extra man against Leeds at home, the Dragons were left wounded as the Rhinos pulled off an amazing comeback to defeat them in golden point.

No doubt reeling from that, can they bounce back against Trinity?

Team News

Kelepi Tanginoa is back for Wakefield after serving a one match ban last week. Kyle Evans also returns to the squad this week. Jack Croft and Rob Butler miss out.

Catalans welcome back Tom Davies as Tyrone May and Mitchell Pearce both return. The likes of Gil Dudson, Joe Chan and Julian Bousquet are absent. This means that the Dragons are very light in the middle.

Match Preview – Score Prediction:

Jamie Shaul vs Sam Tomkins: Jamie Shaul has taken nicely to Wakefield and has underpinned Trinity’s two best performances of recent times at the back. He will be up against the reigning Man of Steel Sam Tomkins who will have something to prove after last week.

Jacob Miller vs Mitchell Pearce: Both Miller and Pearce can organise their team but also offer an attacking threat themselves. That’s what will make this battle that little bit more interesting here.

Where the game will be won and lost:

If Wakefield can replicate the blueprint that nearly carried Trinity to a win over the Champions, they’ll give themselves a good chance at downing the French side especially with the lack of forwards available for the Dragons and in doing so almost all but condemning Toulouse to the Championship next year.

Score Prediction: Wakefield Trinity 14-12 Catalans Dragons
