Wakefield Trinity host Leigh Leopards tonight in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals and the team news for each side is now in.
These teams will be familiar with one another having played last Friday in Round Six of Super League, albeit at the Leigh Sports Village instead of tonight’s venue the DIY Kitchens Stadium.
Daryl Powell’s side came out on top that night and they did so in resounding fashion, winning 40-14 as they controlled the majority of the 80-minute affair, taking an early lead before piling the points on late as well.
Two of those second-half tries were intercept scores from Tom Johnstone, which helped to blow the score out, perhaps disproportionately, as Leigh failed in their bid to shift the ball wide and rack up the necessary points.
Two competition points were on the line in that game but tonight’s prize is arguably more valuable, a berth in the Challenge Cup semi-finals. Both teams have now been confirmed.
Wakefield Trinity v Leigh Leopards team news
There are just two changes for Wakefield Trinity and both come in the forward pack as Josh Griffin and Caius Faatili drop out of the 17-man squad, meaning that the returning Corey Hall only returns as 18th man.
He replaces Lachlan Walmsley in that role whilst the two to move into the squad are Jack Croft, who starts in the second-row, and Renouf Atoni, who replaces Faatili on the bench.
There’s still no Max Jowitt or Jake Trueman with neither man named in the 21-man squad.
Wakefield Trinity XIII: Josh Rourke; Matty Russell, Cameron Scott, Oliver Pratt, Tom Johnstone; Mason Lino, Oliver Russell; Mike McMeeken, Liam Hood, Caleb Hamlin-Uele; Jack Croft, Isaiah Vagana, Jay Pitts
Interchanges: Ky Rodwell, Matthieu Cozza, Harvey Smith, Renouf Atoni

As for Leigh, they also make two changes with one of those being a major boost as England international Robbie Mulhern returns, as Adrian Lam suggested he would.
Mulhern’s addition means that Jack Hughes drops to the bench whilst the other key change on the bench is the absence of Brad Dwyer in favour of Louis Brogan.
Dwyer had started last week with Edwin Ipape on the bench but this week the Papua New Guinean starts and has no apparent relief at hooker with the quartet of Brogan, Hughes, Alec Tuitavake and Matt Davis on the bench.
Leigh Leopards XIII: David Armstrong; Bailey Hodgson, Tesi Niu, Umyla Hanley, Keanan Brand; Gaz O’Brien, Lachlan Lam; Owen Trout, Edwin Ipape, Robbie Mulhern; Frankie Halton, Ethan O’Neill, Isaac Liu
Interchanges: Louis Brogan, Jack Hughes, Alec Tuitavake, Matt Davis
