Wakefield Trinity v Leigh Centurions: Predicted line-ups and late injury news

Wakefield have turned the corner in recent weeks. After a difficult start, Trinity have been in red-hot form in the last two games and the re-arranging of this fixture could help them maintain their momentum over a Challenge Cup weekend. As for Leigh, the Centurions are searching for any momentum after a terrible start to the season which saw coach John Duffy dismissed this week.

Wakefield have again lost a couple of players as Matty Ashurst and on-loan Josh Eaves both drop out of the 21-man squad. However, the good news is the return of world-class winger Tom Johnstone. After overcoming concussion, Johnstone is set to take Super League by storm again this weekend. Even if he’s not quite ready, the return of Innes Senior and Lee Kershaw provide cover on the flank. However, Ashurst’s absence leaves Trinity with a problem to solve in the pack.

Speaking of problems, Leigh have plenty. The Centurions have only been able to name a 19-man squad for the fixture due to the absence of Ben Reynolds and Jordan Thompson. That leaves questions over who will feature in the halves. Joe Mellor, Jamie Ellis and Matty Wildie are all in contention. One certainty is the presence of Ben Hellewell at second-row following his brilliant showing against Hull KR last week.
