Wakefield Trinity v Hull KR with both teams missing key playmakers

Hull KR

Wakefield Trinity take on Hull KR tonight at a sold-out Belle Vue and both coaches have now named their matchday squads.

The excitement of Wakefield being back in Super League has only grown following their impressive 14-12 win in Round One on the road against Leeds Rhinos and that has seen the club confirm a sell-out for tonight’s match.

Hull KR are one of the better travelling teams and both sets of fans have now been advised that tickets will not be sold on the gate with Trinity taking to social media to ask fans to try and arrive early.

It’s set to be a party atmosphere as Daryl Powell’s side take on Hull KR, hoping to go one better than their West Yorkshire rivals Castleford did last week when they took the Robins to golden point but ultimately lost.

The task for Trinity is immense with Daryl Powell confirming fresh injury news after the Leeds Rhinos win, adding to their already large list of unavailable players.

Having previously named their 21-man squads, both coaches have now locked in their squads for the game.

Wakefield Trinity team news

In the aftermath of the Leeds game, Powell confirmed that Ky Rodwell hadn’t played on account of a hamstring injury which could sideline him for six weeks. That news was paired with the fact Liam Hood would also miss the Hull KR clash.

Trin were already without Cam Scott, Seth Nikotemo, Josh Griffin and Renouf Atoni meaning Daryl Powell has been forced to name a much-changed side.

Jake Trueman misses out through illness meaning Oliver Russell enters the fray whilst Thomas Doyle replaces Hood at hooker.

Wakefield Trinity Squad: Jowitt, Walmsley, Pratt, Hall, Johnstone; Russell, Lino; McMeeken, Doyle, Hamlin-Uele; Croft, Storton, Pitts

Interchanges: Vagana, Rourke, Smith, Faatili

Hull KR team news

Willie Peters was coy when speaking about his squad fitness with the Australian revealing that one unnamed player had an issue but “could be ok” as he named an unchanged 21-man squad.

It’s now been revealed that man is Tyrone May with the playmaker missing out forcing Peta Hiku into the halves and meaning that Jack Broadbent is recalled to play centre.

May’s absence will be huge and will mean even more responsibility falls on the shoulders of Mikey Lewis in an otherwise unchanged team.

Hull KR Squad: Evalds; Davies, Broadbent, Gildart, Burgess; Lewis, Hiku; Sue, McIlorum, Waerea-Hargreaves; Martin, Batchelor, Minchella

Interchanges: Litten, Hadley, Whitbread, Tanginoa
