Wakefield Trinity welcome Hull KR to the DIY Kitchens Stadium on Thursday night and both sides have named their 21-man squads for the game.
Trinity shocked many neutrals on Saturday when they defeated Leeds Rhinos at Headingley by a scoreline of 14-12 with Trin’s resolute defence keeping the home side out for almost the entire second-half.
A late Sam Lisone try made for a tense final couple of minutes but Daryl Powell’s side deserve the plaudits for what was a very strong and solid performance, one that caught a lot of people by surprise.
Equally, the performance that Hull KR put in on Friday caught many by surprise but not for the right reasons with the Robins not firing as they faced Castleford Tigers.
Castleford deserve credit of course but Hull KR looked off the pace as they were taken to golden point where a Mikey Lewis drop goal won it for them 19-18.
Heading into Thursday’s fixture, Wakefield are already combating a short turnaround and now the squads have been named we know of any injury issues.
Wakefield Trinity squad news
After the win over Leeds Rhinos, Daryl Powell confirmed that Liam Hood had been lost to an ankle injury in the second half whilst also revealing that Ky Rodwell, who had been named in the 21-man squad, suffered a hamstring injury that could sideline him for six weeks.
Both those players have dropped out of the 21-man squad with Wakefield confirming that Hood picked up a syndesmosis issue in the game. The third player to miss out is Matty Russell.
Replacing that trio are Jayden Myers who returns from suspension whilst young talents Isaac Shaw and Cain Staveley-Carr fill in the other roles.
The likes of Corey Hall and Matty Storton will play their former club whilst Wakefield are still missing Cam Scott, Seth Nikotemo, Josh Griffin and Renouf Atoni from their presumed starting 17.
