Wakefield Trinity supporter reveals letter that bans him for three years for crowd trouble

Wakefield Trinity

Crowd trouble is becoming an increasing problem in rugby league.

Warrington Wolves, Hull KR and Castleford Tigers have all been fined this season for crowd trouble with an increasing amount of flares and alcohol-fuelled incidents plaguing some Super League action.

Now, a Wakefield Trinity fan has shared a letter of his that reveals why he has been banned for three years and what will happen at the end of that ban following a game against Hull KR earlier in the season.

The letter reads: “Hull KR v Wakefield Trinity RLFC – Saturday 23rd April 2022.

“You have been identified as being a member of a group of supporters at the above game that were involved in inappropriate chanting and inappropriate hand gestures pre-match, during the match and post-match and that you were responsible for an inappropriate post on social media. The chants included “you fat b*stard, “f*ck” in various forms, “w*nker” and hand gestures such as ‘middle finger’ and ‘closed fisted hand’.

“These are serious breaches of Hull KR’s Stadium Regulations, the RFL’s Respect and Tackle It CampaignS and Wakefield Trinity’s Supporter Code of Conduct.

“I can confirm that you are now excluded with immediate effect from all events and activity at Belle Vue Stadium.

“You may contact the Club no earlier than Sunday 23rd April 2025 to request a review of this exclusion. The review will take place at Belle Vue Stadium and will be with two senior Club staff. You will be able to bring a friend or colleague. You may be required to commit to conditions if the exclusion order is to be lifted. These will be confirmed when you request the review.

“Should you breach this exclusion order the date for a review will be extended to Thursday 23rd April 2026.

“This Club fully support the RFL’s RESPECT and Tackle It campaigns. Our decision to exclude you is based on ours and Hull KR’s Stadium Regulations along with the RFL’s policy regarding supporter behaviour.

“This decision will be shared with the RFL, RLGSOA and our partner agencies.”
