Wakefield Trinity star signing hints that he may play new position at Belle Vue in 2023

The big news of the weekend was of course Wakefield Trinity’s signing of Catalans Dragons centre Samisoni Langi.

He was let go by Catalans at the end of the 2022 but is excited about the chance he has to shine at Wakefield in 2023 and 2024 after signing a two year deal at the club.

Speaking on the club’s Twitter page, he said:

“I’m really excited about this new challenge, really excited about this new chapter. To come over to Wakefield, I’m definitely looking forward to it.

“I’d definitely say I kicked off my career over here at Catalans, and I’ve been able to build on my football and hopefully I’ll be able to bring my experience over to Wakefield and help the team. I’m keen to get over.”

Today Wakefield confirmed that Reece Lyne would wear the number four shirt after revealing that Corey Hall will wear the number three further hinting that Langi may not play centre at Belle Vue.

He explained as such himself :”I just love footy to be honest, doesn’t matter position wise. Centre I have made my own over the last few years but yeah I can play in the halves like when I first came over to Catalans, I can be a utility player, I’m versatile.

“I’ve got a different skillset, I wouldn’t mind showing that at Wakefield but if I’m needed at centre I’m happy to play there.”
