Wakefield Trinity have announced an extended deal for hooker Liam Hood this evening to bring in the New Year in style.
As 2023 begins, Hood has signed a deal that keeps him at the club until the end of 2024.
On signing the new deal, Hood said to the club website: “I’m delighted to be staying at Wakefield for an extra year,
“It’s been an ongoing process with Michael and Mark over the last few weeks and I’m now pleased it’s sorted so I can focus on a big year ahead.”
Hood missed Wakefield’s Boxing Day win over Leeds Rhinos through injury as new signing and ex-Warrington Wolves and Featherstone Rovers halfback played out of position at hooker in his place.
Hood has subsequently given a positive update on his injury saying he will be back for ex-Hull FC man Reece Lyne’s testimonial game and will start running when Trinity return after a break following the win over Leeds:
“I’m will start to run again when we return to training at the beginning of January and hopefully I will be back for Reece’s Testimonial game.”
Hood will again where the number nine shirt in 2023, the shirt he was given as he joined from Leigh Leopards last year as the replacement for Kyle Wood.
