Wakefield Trinity signing receives squad number as they confirm strongest 17

Wakefield Trinity have made four signing for the 2023 season as they look to climb up the table after their 10th place finish in 2022 as new boss Mark Applegarth takes the reigns of a new era at Belle Vue adorned by the stadium redevelopment.

One signing has come from a rival Super League club, one from a Championship side and two from the NRL.

They have brought in Samisoni Langi from Wakefield Trinity for the 2023 season after he rejected a move to Wakefield last year from Catalans Dragons.

Meanwhile from Featherstone Rovers comes halfback Morgan Smith formerly of Warrington Wolves and London Bronos.

From down under Renouf Atoni has joined the club as has big name signing former NRL winner, ex-Melbourne Storm and Gold Coast Titans man as well as New Zealand international Kevin Proctor.

Now Atoni is in West Yorkshire having landed from down under this week and begun pre-season training.

His squad number has now been confirmed as being the number 17 meaning he features in Wakefield’s strongest 17 ahead of other star signings like Kevin Proctor, Samisoni Langi and Morgan Smith.

Atoni played his best rugby at Canterbury Bulldogs from 2018-21 prior to a short stint at Sydney Roosters in 2022.

Now his job is to have a big impact at Belle Vue.
