Wakefield Trinity have confirmed the signing of Josh Rourke from London Broncos ahead of the 2025 season.
Rourke has penned a one-year deal with the West Yorkshire outfit with the club holding an option to extend it by another season should they wish.
The 24-year-old had an injury hit campaign with the Broncos after breaking his leg in pre-season, limiting him to just 12 Super League outings this time around. However, he certainly made the most of his time on the field after making his comeback in July, scoring eight tries in his first eight games back in the Broncos line up, with a brace coming in a man of the match worthy performance at Magic Weekend against Hull FC.
The full-back, who spent time with Salford Red Devils and Whitehaven earlier in his career, is expected to compete for a spot in the Wakefield line up with Max Jowitt, with Lachlan Walmsley looking set to play on the edge for Daryl Powell next season.
“I’m delighted to have signed for Wakefield for 2025,” he told the Wakefield Trinity website. “It’s a fantastic club with a brilliant fanbase, a lot of history and it’s a club that’s moving in the right direction.
“After speaking with Ste (Mills) & Daryl, I can see the drive & ambition for where they want this club to be and it’s a project I’m excited to be involved in. Everyone I’ve spoken to with regards to Wakefield has only got positive things to say.
“I’m looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season, meeting the lads & hopefully having a big 2025 season.”
On his latest signing, Powell said: “Josh has been outstanding since he recovered from a broken leg and was a big reason why London improved so much during the season. He will add depth and quality to our outside backs which increases our depth across a number of backline positions. I look forward to seeing how he can grow in the coming seasons.”
