Yesterday it was confirmed that Josh Drinkwater had left the Catalans Dragons to take on a two-year deal at Warrington Wolves as he becomes England star George Williams’ halfback partner as the two look to inspire the Wolves back to success after an 11th placed finish in 2022.
This came after the Dragons told Drinkwater that he was free to find a new club for the 2023 season.
The same was said to Dylan Napa. The big prop was a major signing for the Dragons going into 2022 but a series of suspensions saw his potential stall and now the Dragons are looking to move prop on.
According to French publication L’Independent, Wakefield Trinity registered an interest in the prop.
However, it seems that right now any move to Belle Vue has lost pace as Trinity focus their efforts on other targets.
It was an aim of Mark Applegarth’s to bolster Trinity’s middles when he replaced ex-Leeds Rhinos player Willie Poching as Head Coach a Belle Vue. This is why Jamie Shaul’s move from Hull FC never came off as the new boss focused on forwards.
This has seen him already sign former New Zealand international, NRL winner and Melbourne Storm and Gold Coast Titans star Kevin Proctor for 2023.
He alongside halfback Morgan Smith are currently the club’s only signings but expect more and Napa could be one of them.
Trinity has been expected to sign Elijah Taylor from Salford Red Devils but he instead joined the Featherstone Rovers.
