Wakefield Trinity recruit makes future admission amidst praise for former club Hull KR

Wakefield Trinity signing Corey Hall has spoken about his happiness at returning to the club whilst also praising former team Hull KR.

Hall signed for Hull KR midway through the 2023 season in a swap deal that saw Will Dagger head to Belle Vue. Whilst at Craven Park, the young centre made ten appearances before then heading to Castleford Tigers on loan during the 2024 season.

He has since left the Jungle to cross back over to West Yorkshire club Wakefield Trinity, the club that Hall calls home despite his professional debut coming with Leeds Rhinos.

“I haven’t half been on a journey,” the 22-year-old explained when speaking to The Wakefield Express about his career so far.

Whilst some players who move around a lot can find frustration in that, Hall has looked at the positives of being involved with so many clubs at such a young age.

He explained: “It’s been good because I’ve been able to experience different environments, high-class environments and have taken a lot from each place I’ve been.”

The centre, who signed a three-year deal with Wakefield, hopes to call Trinity his home for a ‘long time’ as he outlined his happiness at being back at Belle Vue.

“Some players are one-club men and others go here, there and everywhere before ending up in a place they stay for a long time. That’s Wakefield for me.

“I’m definitely happy to be back and would like it to be my home for a long time.”

With Iain Thornley exiting the club, Wakefield Trinity signed Hall and Hull FC centre Cam Scott to replenish their back line with Hall landing the number four shirt, something he is proud of as he endeavours to make the centre spot his own.

“I wanted to make a centre spot my own as well,” he explained when talking about his exit from Hull KR.

“When I spoke to Willie (Peters, Hull KR head coach) with my agent, we were all grown up about it and decided to part ways. I haven’t got a bad word to say about Hull KR. It’s a club full of really good people.

“It’s a great gesture by Wakefield to give me the number four but one thing I’ve learnt from squad numbers is that it doesn’t necessarily determine what the starting line-up will be at the start of the season. I’ve got to keep working hard.”

Wakefield Trinity will be in action on Friday night against Hall’s former club Castleford Tigers for Luke Gale’s testimonial game.
