Wakefield Trinity pair and Leigh Leopards star charged by Match Review Panel as London Broncos man referred to tribunal after brawl

This week’s Super League disciplinary verdict has been released, and quite surprisingly, only five top-flight players have been charged.

There were plenty of players hoping to avoid a citation this week, including stars from Leeds, St Helens and Wigan. However, none of those clubs have received charges, in what is a short list of infringements.

Four players have received fines, with another having no further action. Wakefield Trinity pair Isaiah Vagana and Mike McMeeken are the two stand-out names, both of those men have been given Grade B charges for incidents in the win over Warrington Wolves on Saturday.

Vagana has been cited for head contact, whilst McMeeken has landed a dangerous contact charge.

Elsewhere, Huddersfield’s George King has been hit with a Grade A late contact on passer charge, whilst Castleford prop and Leigh Leopards loanee, Lazarus Vaalepu, has been given a Grade B for the same offence.

Leigh star Adam Cook has landed his first charge of the season for ‘other contrary behaviour,’ after pulling the hair of Tristan Sailor in an attempt to make a cover tackle.

Hull FC prop Harvie Hill and St Helens centre Mark Percival have both escaped citations, despite being sent to the sin-bin in their respective defeats. Hill was also put on report for striking, but again nothing has come from that.

The big disciplinary news comes from the Championship, where Swinton Lions player Jordan Brown has been banned for three matches for punching London’s Will Jones.

Jones himself has been referred to a tribunal and has landed a Grade F charge despite Brown only receiving Grade E. Both players were sent off in the final minute of the game.
