Daryl Powell will debut three new signings after naming a total of eight as Wakefield Trinity face Castleford Tigers for Luke Gales’ testimonial.
Wakefield Trinity are one of the only Super League clubs to have already played a pre-season friendly, facing Leeds Rhinos on Boxing Day, meaning several new signings have already debuted.
Next Friday when Trinity face Castleford Tigers for Luke Gale’s testimonial fans will get the chance to see a further three new signings as Wakefield have named a very strong side.
Trinity made the most signings of any Super League club, recruiting a total of 11 players for the 2025 campaign as they underwent the transition from the Championship to the top flight.
Among those new signings is England international and new club captain Mike McMeeken who it has been confirmed will feature next Friday when Trinity face off against Castleford. The ex-Catalans man will be joined on debut by fellow new recruits Matty Storton and Matty Russell.

Trinity took to social media to confirm their squad that will face off against their local rivals, naming a 21-man squad with Luke Gale also listed as the 22nd man.
Gale is expected to play a cameo role, something that he revealed last week, but the eyes will be on how Trinity’s new signings fare with the club expected to try and make a splash on their return to Super League.
Whilst McMeeken, Storton and Russell will all debut, fans will get another chance to see half-back pairing Oliver Russell and Jake Trueman who are set to start once again.
Fellow signings Cam Scott, Seth Nikotemo and Josh Rourke also feature but one of the big returnees is full-back Max Jowitt who racked up a world-record 500 points last season.
Fans will be intrigued to see if and how Powell fits both Jowitt and new signing Rourke onto the pitch at the same time with both men vying for the starting full-back role after impressive 2024 campaigns at their respective clubs.
Also returning to action after missing the Boxing Day game are Liam Hood and Jay Pitts.
