Wakefield Trinity have signed another player from the NRL, and have announced their third signing for the 2027 season.
After already announcing the arrival of NRL superstar Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Leeds Rhinos forward Cameron Smith, Trinity have now bolstered their pack with the addition of St Geroge Illawarra Dragons prop Emre Guler.
Guler, 28, has been at the Dragons for the past two seasons, and has made 29 appearances in his time at the Red Vee.
Before that, he spent seven years in the Canberra Raiders first-team, and played in the 2019 NRL Grand Final defeat to Sydney Roosters.
Guler has penned a three-year deal to join Daryl Powell’s side, and joins seven other players having contracts that run until then – highlighting how forward-thinking Trinity are when it comes to their long-term squad.
The prop is a Turkish international, and is very excited to be joining the West Yorkshire outfit.
Commenting on the move, he said: “Being off contract at the end of this year, my management has been working behind the scenes talking with Clubs both in Australia and the UK.
“When discussions progressed with Wakefield, I saw it as a great opportunity for myself and my young family.
“Being only 28, I have gained valuable experience over the years with Strong Clubs playing NRL for the Canberra Raiders and St George Illawarra Dragons and saw it as the perfect time to sign a three-year deal with Wakefield.
“Wakefield are travelling very well in the Super League and after talking with their Matt, Ste and Daryl, they showed the professionalism and growth of the club as well as their vision for the future and I am thoroughly looking forward to the move, being part of the challenges ahead, and joining a prestigious club like Wakefield Trinity.”
Trinity boss Powell added: “We are delighted to sign Emre. He is a high-quality addition to our squad. He is a starting middle in the NRL and fits our recruitment profile perfectly.
“Having spoken in depth to Emre we are super confident he will help our pack go to the next level over the coming seasons.”
