Wakefield Trinity Ladies add former Warrington Wolves star

Wakefield Trinity Ladies RL have confirmed the signing of Emilia Povall-Clarke for the start of the 2022 season.

Povall-Clarke becomes the newest addition to the squad on loan from Leeds University, following the likes of Amy Bennett and Gayatri Gambhir.

Starting her career at college in the girls’ academy, Povall-Clarke joined Warrington Wolves’ under-19s side before moving into the reserves and then open age.

A trip to university beckoned for Emilia, though, and with the plan to get more game time away from Cheshire, she started with the Leeds side last year.

Her next stop is Wakefield, however, and Povall-Clarke is delighted to join the club for 2022, ”I am really pleased [to be joining Trinity]. I feel like this will really help me in my rugby career as I’ve got a lot of support from coaches and girls around me,” she said.

“My affiliation [with the club] started when I was asked to come down and train after a game.

“After my first session, I knew it was for me. All the girls are very supportive, and I think that’s made me want to play for Wakefield.

“Since I started playing rugby I’ve always wanted to play in Super League and to have this chance really made my interest peak.”

Emilia becomes the next in a long line of new recruits for the start of the new campaign. A long pre-season, in which she registered her first try, has set the club up perfectly for the start of the new year.

“I want to help the team become stronger, on and off the pitch.

“I think pre-season has shown how passionate we all are. My passion for the sport definitely motivates me to help the team become the best we can be.

“My aims for this season will be to make my Super League debut, play to my best ability, and, hopefully, get some tries and wins out of this season.”
