Wakefield Trinity include new signing in 21-man squad as Leeds Rhinos suffer major blow

The 21-man squads are in for day one of the Magic Weekend and there’s some major news.

The headline is Leeds Rhinos’ surprise loss of skipper Kruise Leeming. The hooker has been in brilliant form lately scoring twice against Hull FC including a superb break away try on the back of a Richie Myler break.

He misses out with a foot injury posing the question will Brad Dwyer make a return to the side after being left of the last two games. If he does will he start or will the nod again go to Jarrod O’Connor as it did against Huddersfield despite him being a loose-forward by trade. Corey Johnson is also an option.

Leeming’s loss also means Leeds have only named a 20-man squad following Jack Walker’s move to Hull FC. Subsequently Levi Edwards will be recalled from his loan to York should Leeds need him against Castleford.

The Tigers have also only named a 20-man squad with Naill Evalds expected to return. Former Rhino Alex Sutcliffe is also back in the mix. Alex Mellor could also play against his former club.

Meanwhile, Wakefield ahead of their game against Toulouse have included new signing Josh Bowden in their squad despite the fact he only signed this morning.

Opponents Toulouse have also named a strong squad with the likes of Corey Norman and Daniel Alvaro set to feature.

Turning to the Wigan-Saints derby, the Warriors will be without skipper Thomas Leuluai whilst Saints have been able to include Konrad Hurrell, Will Hopoate and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook.
