Wakefield Trinity did tremendously well to claw back a 12-0 deficit in the opening exchanges to be 12-6 just before the break.

However, it should have been level at the break, with referee Jack Smith opting not to go to the video referee for a clear penalty try for Wakefield.

Liam Kay kicked through for Trinity with Kelepi Tanginoa chasing down hard, only to be clearly pulled back by Warrington’s Josh Thewlis.

Smith waved play on and for a 20-metre restart much to the shock of almost everyone inside the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
