Wakefield Trinity fans go into meltdown following friendly loss

Wakefield Trinity

Wakefield Trinity went down 22-18 to local rivals Featherstone Rovers in a friendly this afternoon, but it wasn’t just the result that rankled their fans, it was the manner in which it occurred.

Featherstone were by far the better side, controlling the whole game through the triumvirate of Morgan Smith, Tom Holmes and Craig Hall whilst Jack Bussey was in devastating form.

Yes, it was only a friendly, but Trinity had a near-strength full side with only the likes of Mason Lino and Bill Tupou missing.

Rovers too arguably had a side out that would cause a number of Super League teams problems with Jesse Sene-Lefao and Junior Moors still demonstrating their top-flight credentials.

Give credit to Featherstone, they were superb, but nothing went right for Wakefield and they looked disappointing with ball in hand.

Jacob Miller had some bright touches whilst it was great to see Tom Johnstone back to his running best, but head coach Willie Poching would not have been happy with the number of errors and penalties conceded.

And, Wakefield fans themselves were seriously disappointed.

A number of social media posts couldn’t be repeated for obvious reasons, but a few fans showed their disgruntlement on Twitter.

Another rugby league fan questioned whether or not it was a Wakefield full strength side…it was which means Featherstone should get even more praise.
