Wakefield Trinity will head into next week’s Super League play-offs without talisman Max Jowitt, it has been confirmed.
Jowitt has been one of Wakefield’s most important players this season, with the full-back getting over for 13 tries and setting up 12 more over the course of the Super League campaign.
However, he was withdrawn with just two minutes on the clock as Wakefield took on Salford Red Devils in their final regular season game after colliding with Tom Johnstone. He had a head injury assessment while off the field and unfortunately for the West Yorkshire side, he failed.
As such, as per concussion protocols, he will miss Wakefield’s play-off eliminator clash next week.

Daryl Powell’s side will play either Leeds Rhinos or Leigh Leopards in the play-offs and they know a win would set up a clash against Hull KR, who they beat last week, at Craven Park for a spot in the Grand Final.
The Trin’s spot in the play-offs was secured on Thursday night when Hull FC lost to Catalans Dragons at the MKM Stadium. That rendered Friday night’s game at Salford pointless and Jowitt’s injury will leave a sour taste.
The injury does open the door for Josh Rourke to step into the number one spot, though, with the former London Broncos man being praised for his performances of late.
Wakefield Trinity will be competing in the Super League play-offs for the first time since 2012, with their fifth placed finishes in 2017 and 2018 coming during the Super 8s era. The Trin haven’t won a play-off game since 2004 when they beat Hull FC at the MKM Stadium.
