Now under the control of former Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves and Castleford Tigers boss Daryl Powell, Wakefield Trinity have set their stall out with regards to an immediate return to Super League.
Thus, the West Yorkshire club have continually re-signed key men to their squad for the new Championship campaign and have now re-signed centre Jack Croft. He originally came through Trinity’s scholarship and academy system and signed a 4 year professional contract as a 17 year old in 2018.
Jack returned to the club midway through last season after a stint in Queensland Australia with Wynnum-Manly and will hope in 2024 to add to his 27 appearances so far with the club.
Head Coach Daryl Powell said: ‘Jack Croft is a quality young centre whose pathway has been an interesting one over the last few years. These experiences have helped him to grow as a person and as a player and I’m confident it will drive him to be an outstanding centre in the future. I’m looking forward to working with him in 2024 to help him grow his game.’
The club have also re-signed Isaac Shaw. Another player the club brought back to the side in the middle of 2023 after he left the club previously.
He is another product of their academy and this emphasises the club’s determination to keep hold of talented young players and build towards a return to the Super League.
Head Coach Daryl Powell said: ‘Isaac is raw as a player, but he’s young and keen. He is going to be a big strong aggressive front row forward in the future. This is a great opportunity for him in pre-season to grow physically and put himself forward to play some consistent game-time next season I’m confident he will develop into a first team player of the future.’
Wakefield are already in a strong position to return to Super League under the IMG gradings.
