Wakefield Trinity have added a yet another signing for 2023. After bringing in two NRL props, halfback Morgan Smith formerly of Warrington Wolves, they have signed Catalans Dragons centre Samisoni Langi.

He is really excited by the move to Belle Vue as he takes on a two-year deal: “I’m really looking forward to this new challenge and can’t wait to get over and start.

“I’ve had a few conversations with Mark and I am really looking forward to working with him. His coaching style and the way he wants us to play particularly excites me.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know the people of Wakefield, putting my best foot forward and proving to the supporters that I will fit right in. I’m ready now and can’t wait to rip in.”

Meanwhile Wakefield Trinity CEO Michael Carter revealed the club tried to sign Langi in 2021.

It had been reported that Langi had signed a deal at the club in 2021 but backflipped to stay with the Dragons.

Carter revealed that they had chased him: “I’m delighted to welcome Soni to the club. It’s no secret how much we valued and chased him last year so to get him now is fantastic.”

After former Leeds Rhinos man Corey Hall was awarded the number three shirt today, it seems Langi will receive the number four shirt.
