Wakefield Trinity boss Daryl Powell has provided an update on centre Cameron Scott, who was stretchered off the field in the club’s defeat to Leeds Rhinos
Scott came off second best after attempting to tackle Leeds prop Keenan Palasia.
After a delay of around 10 minutes, Scott was helped from the field with the assistance of both sets of medical staff and he was pictured both in a neck brace and with an oxygen mask.
That forced a re-shuffle in the backs, and luckily they were carrying Will Tate amongst the subs, so the transition was quick in that Tate came onto the wing and Oliver Pratt moved inside to the centres.
An ambulance was called for the former Hull FC man, and Powell has revealed his player’s current condition.
“He’s come around. He’s okay. His scan is clear, so he’s good,” the boss said.
“Seeing him from a distance, he didn’t look like he was moving too much which is always a concern, but he seems to be okay, so that’s the main thing really out of it all, that he’s good.”
Wakefield Trinity boss labels Maika Sivo sin-bin a “weak call”
Trinity lost out 40-22 to Brad Arthur’s Leeds, who remain top of the table after their fifth straight win.
The result means Wakefield have suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time since June 2025.
Powell desribed the result as “carnage” with a number of injuries forcing reshuffles at key points of the game.
“We dropped the ball on play one, conceded two points, Cam gets knocked out before we’ve even got the ball.
“Then Rourkey [Josh Rourke] comes off [HIA], straight contact to the head… Rourkey and then Pratty [Oliver Pratt], they’re all tough reshuffles, and we were a bit down on personnel anyway, so it ended up being a carnage of a game to manage.”
A big moment of the game saw Rhinos winger Maika Sivo sent to the sin-bin, after he caught Wakefield full-back Josh Rourke late and high, with many saying it should have been a red card.
Powell described the refereeing decision as “weak”, and will watch it again in the hope he hears some clarity on why it was only yellow.
“I didn’t hear any of that [referee communication]. I just think it’s a weak call to be honest.
“It is what it is. I don’t think it’s a defining part of the game, but something’s changed hasn’t it with the contact to the head.
“I’ll ask the question and see what [the referees] say. For me it looked like it was a straight red, but as I say, things seemed to have changed, so I’ll try find out why that was.”
