Wakefield Trinity 2025 squad numbers announced as big calls made on new signings

Jake Trueman has joined Wakefield Trinity from Hull FC

Wakefield Trinity have announced their squad numbers for the upcoming Super League campaign with Daryl Powell making some big calls.

The West Yorkshire outfit are preparing to make the step back up to the top flight after being awarded a Grade A score by IMG in the aftermath of their Championship play-off final win over Toulouse Olympique. Wakefield have made a host of new signings, too, with plenty of them being handed starting jerseys for 2025.

It comes as no surprise to see Tom Johnstone take the number five shirt, while Mike McMeeken has been given number eight to reflect his status in the side after making the move from Catalans Dragons. Jake Trueman will wear six, while former Huddersfield Giants man Olly Russell will don the number seven on his back.

Cam Scott and Corey Hall take three and four, suggesting they could be Powell’s starting centres for the new season while Seth Nikotemo has been handed the number 11 jersey after his switch from Gold Coast Titans.

Josh Rourke has been given 23, which suggests he will be behind Max Jowitt in the full-back pecking order, while Matty Storton takes 17, which gives an indication of the role he is expected to play coming off the bench.

Oliver Pratt drops from three to 19, while Mason Lino will wear 20, despite taking ownership of the seven shirt in recent seasons. Matty Russell will be seen with the number 24 on his back after making the switch from Warrington Wolves.
