Wakefield Trinity 18-6 Hull KR: Highlights and player ratings

Wakefield Trinity took on Hull KR tonight at Belle Vue.

It was fast and frenetic early on as Rovers forced two drop-outs, but they couldn’t breach the Wakefield defence, and neither could the home side breach the away defence despite multiple sets on Rovers’ line.

And, with the visitors moving up the other end, Albert Vete was able to force his way over through some soft tackles. Rowan Milnes converted for a 6-0 lead.

Wakefield should have hit back after Jimmy Keinhorst was sent to the sinbin for an accidental trip, but they were kept out as half-time came.

Into the second forty minutes and Trinity were clearly fired up with Lee Kershaw crossing in the corner with a superb conversion from Max Jowitt levelling proceedings.

It was a game of fine margins, but it was Wakefield that were able to go into the lead courtesy of an incredible Lewis Murphy finish with the winger making quite the name for himself at Belle Vue. Another brilliant Jowitt kick handed Trinity a 12-6 lead going into the final ten minutes.

Matt Parcell almost scored for the Robins but be knocked on over the line, and, Trinity duly punished the visitors with a brilliant move down Wakefield’s left.

Murphy got the ball on the wing from a neat Lee Gaskell pass and the winger was able to grubber back inside for the gleeful Jowitt to dot down.

David Fifita converted with an excellent effort to cap off a wonderful performance as Trinity ended up with an 18-6 win in their last home game of the season.
