Wakefield star sets new Super League record

Wakefield’s 44-12 thrashing of Hull FC may well have been impressive, but the fixture also stood out for another record-breaking reason.

Trinity’s diminutive halfback Mason Lino set a new record of 36 successful conversions, breaking the record previously held by Hazem El-Masri in the NRL and Henry Paul in Super League.

Lino has enjoyed a stellar end to the season after striking up a fruitful partnership with Jacob Miller, with interim head coach Willie Poching guiding Trinity to their fifth win in seven games.

Hull FC, on the other hand, registered a tenth defeat in 11 games to end their campaign – which began so smoothly – in awful fashion.

Liam Finn and Jamie Ellis still hold the overall record for all leagues with 41 consecutive conversions, but Lino is now breathing down their necks.
