Wakefield ban players from using social media

Wakefield Trinity boss Chris Chester has banned his players from using social media and speaking to the press ahead of Friday’s relegation decider against London Broncos.

Both sides are among four teams tied at the bottom on 20 points and could risk being relegated depending how results go.

Speaking at his weekly press conference, Chester revealed he has imposed a social media ban on his side in the aim of keeping them relaxed ahead of the game.

“My job is to try and keep the players as relaxed as possible,” he said. “We’ve been really excited out in training today.

“You could see in Hull KR’s performance last Friday how tense they were and they got off to a really poor start.

“My job is just to make sure the prep is good and try and take the pressure off those guys.

“We’ve had a social media blackout this week and a press blackout. The players are doing their bit.”
