Catalans Dragons have confirmed that they’ve secured the services of Cesar Rougé for another two years after signing a new deal with the Super League side.
He had previously been one of the most highly-rated off-contract players in the league, and surely had plenty of interest from a number of sides.
He signed for Catalans from fellow French outfit Limoux in 2020 and in 2022, at 19, he was handed a new two-year deal which was set to expire this year.
However, he will now be at the club until at least 2026 due to the new deal.
He has played four times for France, and spent has time on loan to two sides: one game for Hull KR didn’t go well, losing 64-6 to Wigan in 2023, and spent a brief time with Whitehaven in the RFL Championship.
This year, he’s really taken the initiative and has been one of the most impressive young players in Super League this year.
Still just 21, he may well be a key member of the Dragons squad for a number of years to come.

Cesar Rougé said after signing: “I am very happy to extend my stay for two more seasons here in Perpignan.
“It is now up to me to secure my place in this group and help the team to achieve victories.
“I will continue to give my best in training and on the field. I would like to thank everyone who is renewing their trust in me.”
Dragons head coach Steve McNamara added: “Cesar has shown professionalism and maturity beyond his age. His desire to improve every day is there to see.
“We are very happy he has committed his immediate future to our club.”
Luke Keary may be on his way to the Dragons from Sydney Roosters, but that is far from resolved.
They’ll be happy to have a half-back confirmed for next year, as Jordan Abdull won’t be with the side next year, and now know they’ll have someone to line up next to Théo Fages.
With his ability to play in a number of other positions, including fullback and hooker, it’s a smart signing.
Sides across Super League, looking for a young, talented half-back, will now have to continue their search elsewhere.
