The Select Security Stadium is the home of Super League side Widnes Vikings. Everton and Liverpool women’s football teams also play at the ground which has a capacity of 13,350.
Since 2013, Everton Ladies and Liverpool Ladies team have used the Select Security Stadium along with local team Widnes Football Club of the North West Counties Football League.
Despite the vast number of sporting events played at the stadium, the artificial pitch means the Widnes Vikings don’t have to worry about the condition of their pitch.
Elsewhere at the ground, the Widnes Rugby League Museum is situated in the East Stand of the stadium. It is home to a collection of memorabilia, much of it donated by members of the public, and displays a history of Widnes RLFC.
International rugby league has been played at the Select Security Stadium since the late 1970’s. It hosted an epic match between Wales and Papua New Guinea in the 2000 Rugby League World Cup, the Welsh won 13-12 in front of 5,211 fans.
