Vaivai praised by teammate McGuire; compared to Gidley, Senior & Watkins

Junior Vaivai has been lauded during his explosive debut season at Hull Kingston Rovers.

The USA international has made 12 appearances this year but his impact has been felt by supporters and players alike.

McGuire sees attributes in Vaivai which is mixed with some of Super League’s best in past years and current.

“Junior is absolute quality. Once he gets the ball in his hands he’s really hard to handle,” McGuire said to the Hull Daily Mail.

“He’s got great feet like Kallum Watkins, the flick pass that Matt Gidley had, and he’s the size of a Keith Senior isn’t he?

“Junior has been fantastic since he’s come in. The club took a bit of a punt on him so it’s nice that he’s repaid the club by signing on (a two-year extension).”

The new two-year deal for Vaivai is richly deserved for a player who missed a whole pre-season after signing for the Robins.

But with seven tries scored in his short spell at KCOM Craven Park, it’s fair to say more superlatives will follow if he carries on in the same vein of form.
