Update on Super League star after “awful injury” left him in absolute agony

A valiant Hull FC were unable to back up their win over Champions St Helens against League Leaders Catalans Dragons yesterday.

Though an Adam Swift try from a Sam Tomkins error had given Hull hope the French side suffocated them in the second half scoring through Tom Davies to wrap up a 28-18 win over Hull FC.

It was a result that leaves the Dragons four points clear of Leigh Leopards, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves at the Super League summit.

It was a great game to watch but somewhat sullied by one injury.

You never wish injuries on anyone and sadly we have seen some worrying sights in recent weeks in Super League with Hull KR star James Batchelor and Wakefield Trinity’s Jack Croft stretchered off at the Magic Weekend and now Adam Swift of Hull FC has suffered a nasty injury.

It was a worrying one with no clear reason for why Swift was in absolute agony as he was helped from the field.

It seemed to be a back injury caused as he got up to play the ball but there seemed to be no contact with his back.

It has been suggested that it was a spasm. It was a worry sight, back injuries always are. Either way it was a nasty one for Swift to have to deal with.

In commentary George Riley described it as “an awful injury.”

He was in absolute agony and everyone at Serious About Rugby League wish him well.

Speaking after the game Tony Smith gave an encouraging update on the OurLeague app:

“Knees in the back, accidental knees, he’s just got like a dead leg in his lower back so he should be okay.”
