Unwanted Canterbury star could make sensational Super League move

Super League clubs have been alerted to the possibility of signing unwanted Canterbury Bulldogs star Dylan Napa.

The rampaging forward won a Grand Final with the Sydney Roosters back in 2018, but left for Canterbury in 2019 where his career has somewhat stagnated to the point at which the Bulldogs told him that they wouldn’t be retaining him following the culmination of the 2021 NRL season.

Former teammate at the Roosters Cooper Cronk tried to explain just where things went wrong for the Grand Final winner at the Bulldogs.

“It’s tough to pinpoint where it went down,” Cronk told NRL360 on Fox League.

“When you associate yourself with good clubs, good resources and you can actually get taken to a level that you never thought was possible.

“He did that at the Roosters and improved his game, played Origin and then went to the Dogs where he probably didn’t have all those things the Roosters did.”

Napa is prepared to take a massive pay cut to stay in the NRL, though the Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla Sharks have ended their pursuit.

That means that the 28-year-old could make the move to Super League – and to the Catalans Dragons alongside head coach Steve McNamara, who he worked with at Sydney when McNamara was assistant coach to another former Dragons boss, Trent Robinson.
