Yesterday it was reported that Dylan Napa and Josh Drinkwater had been told by Catalans Dragons that they were free to find new clubs.
For Napa it was a surprise to see him given permission to leave having only been at the club for one season.
So, what next for Napa? Here’s three clubs that could sign him.
Wakefield Trinity
Trinity have the most quota spots in the league left with three. One looks set to go to Kevin Proctor who has reportedly signed a “very lucrative deal” at Belle Bue moving into 2023. This would leave two spots for Wakefield to bring in Napa and Drinkwater. Napa himself would be an ideal signing as a replacement for David Fifita.
Salford Red Devils
Salford are one of the few teams in the league left with a quota spot. Unlike most of the other teams with quota spots, the Red Devils aren’t focusing on pivots and playmakers. This means they could be very open to the signing of Napa who could give the club real physicality in the middle of the field which is something they could perhaps improve on going into 2023.
Toulouse Olympique / Elite One Championship
Like other Catalans players in the past, Napa may not want to leave France and could subsequently join Toulouse Olympique in 2023 or follow Dean Whare to the Elite One Championship which is certainly star-studded with the likes of Corey Norman and James Maloney in the competition at present as it continues to grow.
