Two more Super League clubs could be in relegation trouble suggest Sky Sports pundits

Jon Wilkin

The Super League season is as interesting as ever with the likes of Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and St Helens chasing Leigh Leopards and Catalans Dragons in the top two whilst Leeds Rhinos, Hull FC and Hull KR are chasing a spot in the top six but the most interesting battle right now could be between Wakefield Trinity and Castleford Tigers.

The two are fighting it out to sustain their Super League status with a real relegation battle now underway at the bottom of the league.

Though Wakefield ended their losing run against Leeds Rhinos in Round 15, Castleford followed that up with a win over Warrington which seemed to send Wakefield down but they have responded in kind with two wins in a row trimming the gap between them at the bottom of the league down to just two points.

They have won three out of their last four and their last three home games making Castleford sweat but there has been a suggestion that Huddersfield Giants could also be worried.

Even Hull FC were mentioned on Sky Sports last night.

Barrie McDermott said: “Castleford will be sweating but so might Huddersfield Giants, they have the tough task of taking on league leaders Catalans Dragons tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, as Jon Wilkin opened up on how competitive Super League is at the moment he said “Hull FC aren’t in it [the relegation battle] yet” but the implication was that they could be making the derby on Sunday against Hull KR huge as it could determine whether the Black and Whites continue to chase the play-offs or begin to fear relegation.
