As Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC and Hull KR battle for play-off spots and Wigan Warriors, Leigh Leopards and St Helens push at the top and Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Trinity fight for their lives at the bottom, the season is reaching crunch time.
It is one of the biggest and most competitive Super League’s in recent times and perhaps this is why Sky Sports are intent on keeping the rights.
They have entered into negotiations over a new TV deal worth somewhere in the region of £20 million.
Thus they are selecting big games for the end of the season as are Channel 4 which is why two games have now been moved because of broadcast selections with Leeds Rhinos and Wigan’s clash as well as Salford vs Warrington both having to move.
The action will kick off on Sky Sports on Friday September 8, with a mouthwatering clash between two of the teams currently on course for a top four finish, when St Helens host Leigh Leopards ? a repeat of the intense clash between the teams in the Semi Final of the Betfred Challenge Cup.
The following afternoon (245pm ko), the Sky Sports cameras will be at Headingley for the latest instalment of the classic Roses rivalry between Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors ? a match that is likely to be crucial for Leeds?s hopes of qualifying for the top six, and for Wigan as they jostle for the best possible position in the top four.
Then on Sunday lunchtime (1245pm ko), Channel 4?s Betfred Super League coverage returns as Salford Red Devils host Warrington Wolves ? always a passionate local rivalry, which will be further stoked as both clubs battle for top six places.
Off the field, the match has been dedicated to support Circle Home, a new campaign launched by the Greater Manchester Mayor?s Charity to tackle homelessness within the region.
