Two clubs now named as reportedly chasing St Helens star Regan Grace after three drop out

St Helens star Regan Grace has become one of the most exciting wingers in the Super League competition since bursting onto the rugby league scene.

The Welsh international made his debut back in 2016 and has gone on to make almost 150 appearances in the Red Vee of Saints.

Grace has helped Saints to three successive Super League Grand Final victories after beginning his sporting career in union at Aberavon Harlequins and the Ospreys academy.

However, according to the Rugby Paper, Grace is being lined up with a move back to the 15-man code.

England coach Eddie Jones and attack coach Martin Gleeson both want to see Grace return to union once his contract runs out at the end of the season, with the duo championing him as the next Jason Robinson.

Rugby union sides in Wales had previously reported their their interest in taking Grace with Wales Online revealing that five clubs want to bring him in.

However, it is now thought that Sale and London Irish are the only two sides left chasing the winger with three Welsh rugby union clubs thought to have ended their interest.

The 24-year-old has endured a tough 2022 Super League season so far with two injuries marring his year, though Saints head coach Kristian Woolf has revealed Grace isn’t too far away from returning to action.

And, he has also hinted at a potential new deal for the Welshman.

“It’s all ongoing and certainly there’s continued talks,” Woolf told Saints TV.

“We’d like to think it’s getting a bit closer but we’re not there yet, but we will hopefully have an answer in the next week or so.”

It would be a major boon for both Saints and rugby league if Grace signs a new deal at the Totally Wicked Stadium with a new deal looking increasingly likely.
