Twist in Josh Hodgson’s future as shock move to new club touted

Josh Hodgson could be set for a shock move to the Brisbane NRL club ready to take the 17th spot in the Australian competition.

Canberra CEO Don Furner told the Canberra Times that the club could lose a number of their stars with the admittance of a new NRL side in Brisane.

“They just gave us the financials and why it would add up and why it expands the game. And I think everyone’s in agreement,” Furner said.

“We’re an expansion club. We understand the benefits of expansion for the game and we just needed to see the financials, and they looked good today and we’ll support it.”

Canberra missed out on a finals place in 2021, with Hodgson having a less-than successful year after injuries and a run of bad form kept the Raiders hooker below his own expectations as the Green Machine floundered at the business end of the season.

Hodgson has also been linked to a sensational player swap with the Gold Coast Titans’ co-captain Jamal Fogarty.
