Following Warrington Wolves’ dramatic win over St Helens in the Super League eliminators, the semi-final fixtures have been confirmed.
It was an incredible spectacle of rugby league, with golden point extra-time needed to separate the sides, despite Warrington going in as heavy favourites.
They went ahead within two minutes, but never write off the Saints – they levelled it up on 80 minutes and went down in the extra period.
This came after a Leigh Leopards victory over Salford Red Devils on Friday night, where – unconventionally – the side in fifth went in as favourites.
They showed exactly why, with Edwin Ipape starring at a packed Salford Community Stadium on a famous night for the Leopards, which Adrian Lam has put down as one of his greatest nights in his career.
Warrington’s win means they, as the highest-placed eliminators from the regular season, will face Hull KR, who finished second.
Leigh will therefore face Wigan Warriors, setting up another tantalising derby clash with their neighbours.
TV details confirmed for Super League semi-finals
Reigning champions Wigan Warriors host Leigh Leopards at 5:30 pm on Saturday, 5th October at the Brick Community Stadium.
This game will be live on BBC TWO and Sky Sports, although the exact details of the broadcast – including which channels it will be available on – are yet to be confirmed.
The day prior, Hull KR host Warrington Wolves in what will surely be another home sell-out at Craven Park, as it readies itself for Coldplay next year.
That one will be at 8:00 pm on Sky Sports.
