Hull FC star Carlos Tuimavave says Hull will have to be at their best to beat Huddersfield on Sunday.
The Giants were Super League’s early pacesetters prior to lockdown but back-to-back one-point defeats to Leeds and Warrington has seen them sleep to fifth.
Despite that, Tuimavave is wary of Simon Woolford’s side and a couple of the overseas talents in their squad.
“I am aware of the danger Huddersfield pose,” said the Auckland-born centre. “Aidan Sezer is a major threat.
“Kenny Edwards on the left edge is an exciting player. We have a real job on our hands up against such talent.
“However, we cannot make excuses for ourselves. We have been pretty active in our group chat. We have been sent a lot of videos and pointers to try and improve our game.
“Our defence is something we have to get right quick to stand any chance moving forward.”
This weekend’s clash at the Halliwell Jones Stadium will be Hull’s first match for 20 days following an outbreak of coronavirus in their camp.
The break has allowed the Black and Whites time to take in their last performance, a resounding 54-18 defeat at the hands of Salford.
Sitting off the pace in eighth and with the games about to come thick and fast, Tuimavave knows big improvements need to be made if Hull are to challenge for the Super League title.
“Top four is still a possibility for us,” he said. “We want to win as many games as we can.
“Our goal still has not changed. We want to be in those play-offs at the end of the season.
“We want to go out and try and get the win. It is what we need at the moment. We have been struggling for the last six months.
“The result is what we need rather than just a good performance. We just want to go out and get the two points.”
