Tui Lolohea update issued and more Huddersfield Giants injury concerns revealed

Tui Lolohea is in contention to play for Huddersfield Giants this weekend, head coach Luke Robinson has confirmed. Lolohea was named in the line-up for Sunday’s clash with Wigan Warriors but was forced to pull out after reporting that he felt unwell just minutes before kick-off at the Brick Community Stadium.

Speaking after the game Robinson clarified the situation, saying he was struggling to breathe and had a tightening across his chest. Lolohea had a couple of days off following that clash at Wigan but has since reported to Giants training, been looked over by the club’s medical experts and has been cleared to play.

As such, Robinson has confirmed that he will be in contention to play this weekend in the Challenge Cup against Wakefield Trinity at the John Smith’s Stadium as the Giants strive to reach the last eight of the competition.

“He was off after the game, he didn’t feel well and he didn’t come in Monday and we were off Tuesday,” the Huddersfield Giants boss told BBC Sport West Yorkshire on Thursday. “He came in yesterday and I don’t know if it was something viral, a viral infection that he had. He seems like he’s alright. The doctors checked him over and we don’t know why it came on so suddenly but thankfully it looks like he’s OK.

“Whenever a player comes to you just before the game and says they’re not feeling right and particularly with what’s happened in the past in rugby league with certain players, you’re ultra precautious. Health in the number one priority in that situation and it was for us as well, we’ve got a really good medical team who looked after him.

“He’s in contention but once again there’s a fair few doubts, we’ve got lads going for scans today and someone has to pass his head test.”
