Toulouse strengthen coaching staff with former Super League forward

Remi Casty has been appointed as assistant coach of Toulouse Olympique.

Casty, who retired at the end of the 2021 season having achieved promotion to Super League with the French side, will be second-in-command to Sylvain Houles as Toulouse aim to take the top flight by storm.

After 15 years in the Catalan Dragons jersey and a year’s hiatus with the Sydney Roosters in 2014 (where he became the only Frenchman to have played 12 games in the NRL), the rampaging prop forward came back to France to help Toulouse with their Super League goal.

And, Casty cannot wait to get started as a coach.

Casty said: “I am really happy to be able to join the Toulouse staff for this first season in the Super League and excited at the idea of working alongside Sylvain (Houes), Adam (Innes), Christophe (Toustou), Jon (Green) etc. I will be able to put all my energy into this new project. ”

The President of Toulouse, Bernard Sarrazain highlighted the importance of Casty to Toulouse’s fight.

Sarrazain said: “We always need Rémi. He has brought us so much this year and I am sure he will bring us as much next year in his new role.”
