Toulouse sign Super League hooker

James Cunningham becomes Toulouse’s first Super League signing.

Originally from the city of Hull, hooker Cunningham began his professional career in the Super League under the Hull FC jersey in 2012, when he was only 18 years old.

In 2014, he left on loan in London then in the Super League, and finally joined the Broncos on a permanent deal in 2015.

In 2020, after five seasons with the Broncos, the hooker tried his hand with Toronto before the Wolfpack’s demise led Cunningham to sign with Huddersfield Giants.

Only 27 years old, the Englishman will bring his knowledge of the Super League to the French club.

Cunningham has said: “I’m really happy to join TO XIII and Toulouse. I have been looking forward to this trip every season, and I am happy to make my home in the Pink City. I can’t wait to start this adventure and show that the club’s place is in the Super League. ”

Bernard Sarrazain, the President of Toulouse, said: “With this new chapter which is opening for our club, we must strengthen ourselves with experienced players, this is the case with James. Not even 30 years old, he has a lot of experience in the Super League, and that’s what we’re looking for. “
