Toulouse sign Saints forward

Toulouse have completed the signing of forward Joseph Paulo from St Helens for the 2021 season.

Paulo signed for Saints ahead of the 2019 season from Cronulla Sharks. Paulo was part of the Sharks’ side that lifted the NRL title in 2016, making 20 appearances.

The forward helped Saints to the Super League title in 2019, making 28 appearances and scoring one try.

On signing for the French side, he said: “I am really grateful to Sylvain (Houles), President Sarrazain and the TO XIII club for giving me this opportunity to join the club and take part in this special project.

“The XIII allows me to close the loop: I played in Toulouse in 2006 with the Australian Schoolboys then in 2013 with the USA and today, I will be able to say that Toulouse is my home.

“My wife and daughters are thrilled to discover French culture and life, and it’s something we will remember for a long time.

“I can’t wait to meet the team, I’ve already had the chance to play with Frankie (Winterstein) and Harrison (Hansen) and I can’t wait to start working with the guys and start the new season. “

Toulouse President Bernard Sarrazain added : “Whatever competition we will play in next year, we make sure to be in the Super League configuration, and the fact of having succeeded in bringing in a player of the caliber of Joseph shows that we are on the right track.”
