Toulouse sign ex-Super League halfback

Former Catalans Dragons halfback Lucas Albert has signed a two-year deal with Toulouse Olympique.

The young halfback is currently in rehab following a meniscus injury sustained during the Elite 1 Championship season with Carcassonne XIII.

Albert made his Toulouse debut in the last match of the Championship regular season in Newcastle in September, which was enough to convince head coach Sylvain Houles to keep him in the squad that will play in the Super League next season.

At only 23-years-old, the Carcassonne has almost 50 appearances under his belt from his time at the Catalan Dragons between 2016 and 2020.

Albert was over the moon to sign on: “I am very happy to resign with the TO, there is a great project. The hardest part is yet to come.”

Bernard Sarrazain, the President of Toulouse said: “Experience does not always rhyme with age, Lucas is the perfect example. His youth combined with his experience in the Super League, acquired with the Dragons, is clearly an asset for the squad. We are very happy that he is staying with us.”
