Toulouse Olympique have announced their first recruit for the 2023 season in the shape Scottish international hooker Calum Gahan

He started his career at the North Queensland Cowboys’ Academy, taking full advantage of the club’s experience, which has been established in the NRL since the creation of the championship in 1998. He then joined the Norths Devils in 2018 working under Leeds Rhinos coach Rohan Smith, playing in the Queensland Cup until 2021 before moving to London Broncos in February 2022.

Gahan has just made his international debut at the Rugby League World Cup where he represented Scotland. He even had the opportunity to play against Australia, Fiji and Italy.

It was also key to his move Toulouse Olympique with coach Sylvain Houles saying: “Calum is a very dynamic player behind a play-the-ball, who brings a lot of uncertainty and speed. He is very enthusiastic and passionate about rugby league.”

Club president Bernard Sarrazain added: “Calum has many of the qualities we were looking for: youth, speed and determination. His energy will bring a lot to the club.”

Meanwhile, the player himself noted his excitement: “I am excited at the idea of joining Toulouse and embracing the culture and history of the club: working hard to build something special and return to Super League.”

He will arrive at the club in December.
