Toronto Wolfpack set to spend big on former NRL star

The Sydney Morning Herald are reporting that Canadian Super League side the Toronto Wolfpack are set to offer former NRL player and current All Black Sonny-Bill Williams a huge $9,000,000 deal over just two years.

The last time Williams played in the NRL was five years ago in 2014, playing in a Sydney Roosters side that was eliminated in the preliminary final after winning the premiership the year before.

Since leaving in 2015, Williams has gone on to win his second Rugby World Cup with the All Blacks.

The Wolfpack on the other hand are looking to bolster their squad after gaining promotion to the Super League.

If this deal goes through it would obliterate the current record for highest paid player of all time, with Williams earning $4,500,000 per year.
