Toronto Wolfpack set to name new squad

Toronto Wolfpack’s new side to take part in the North American Rugby League competition will be revealed in the upcoming days.

The Canadian club posted on their Instagram a photo of a large amount of triallists who are set to sign for the Wolfpack on a permanent basis ahead of the new competition that is set to begin in North America in 2022.

The NARL was all ready to begin this year, but it has since been pushed back to 2022 due to concerns over the coronavirus impact.

Financial problems, logistics, player availability and insurance have all become major sticking points in recent months with Toronto and the rest of the competition deciding that this season isn’t the best of times to be entering into a new era.

The Wolfpack are set to be joined by fellow Canadian side Ottawa Aces, who had originally been looking to join League 1 in the British Rugby League tier until the pandemic hit.
