Toronto postpone first three games in Canada

Toronto have confirmed the postponement of their first three games to be played at the Lamport Stadium in Canada due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Wolfpack were set to face Hull FC on April 18th, Wigan on April 25th and St Helens on May 2nd but have now announced they will look to reschedule all three games.

The announcement comes after the City of Toronto cancelled any form of major gathering until at least June 30th, with Canada a number of weeks behind the UK level of Covid-19 infections.

In a statement on the club website, the Wolfpack said: “Over the next few months transatlantic flights between Canada and the UK will remain grounded, restrictions on entry to Canada are in place and major City of Toronto public events have been temporarily cancelled.

The Lamport Stadium has been the Wolfpack’s home since their first season in 2017.

“The Wolfpack are in daily consultation with the RFL, Super League and all clubs around the completion of the 2020 season, while also considering government healthcare guidance.

“The RFL are currently building up a number of fixture remodelling schedules based around a restructured end of season, which maintains all Super League and Challenge Cup games.

“Toronto Wolfpack’s home games scheduled for Saturday April 18 (vs Hull FC), Saturday April 25 (vs Wigan Warriors) and Saturday May 2 (vs St Helens) will unfortunately no longer take place on those dates.

“The Club hopes that these three games can still take place in Toronto as part of a remodelled schedule.”
