Toronto chase former Queensland representitive

Toronto Wolfpack are looking to bring in former Queensland representative and England rugby union international Ben Te’o, according to Fox Sports.

The 32-year-old switched codes back in 2015 but is currently a free agent following his release from Worcester Warriors at the end of last season.

Rumours of his return to rugby league were heightened further this week, after he was surprisingly left out of Eddie Jones’ 31-man squad for the upcoming Rugby World Cup.

Following his release from the Warriors, his management had contacted union clubs in Japan about his availability, however it now appears a return to the 13-man game could be on the cards.

Toronto are looking to spend big should they win promotion to Super League this season, with SARL reporting how they had already targeted two stars of the 15-aside game in Sonny Bill Williams and Danny Cipriani.

The interest in SBW seems to have cooled now, though, with the club considering Te’o a more realistic target.

Te’o has plenty of rugby league pedigree, having played over 150 NRL games for Wests Tigers, Brisbane and South Sydney, as well as being a Samoa and Queensland Origin representative.
