Toronto appoint new head coach

Toronto Wolfpack have appointed Matt Wyles as their new head coach.

The Canadian side are currently preparing for the North American Rugby League competition in 2022, but Brian McDermott left the post after Toronto were kicked out of the European Super League.

The Wolfpack released this statement:

“Team Wolfpack are pleased and excited to announce our new head coach Matt Wyles. Matt has all the attributes not only as a coach but as a person to begin taking Toronto Wolfpack forward.”

Myles added: “It is a huge honour to be given the opportunity to coach the Toronto Wolfpack.

“I look forward to showcasing, promoting and developing domestic rugby league talent in Canada, which has been growing since 2010.

“Rugby League is a fast, aggressive and strategic sport that suits Canadian athletes very well.”

“I am excited to see the response of interested athletes who want to be the next Wolfpack players!

“The Canada Cup happening this summer, is the perfect opportunity for domestic players to get high level competition while trying to secure a contract for the 2022 season, when the league will operate across North America in the NARL.”
